Ford’s plant in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, whose 3000 workers build the Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus midsize SUVs, will soon be retooled to assemble EVs and battery packs. Retooling of the new campus, renamed Oakville Electric Vehicle Complex, will begin during Q2 2024, with production of next-generation electric vehicles to start in 2025. The current Oakville site includes three body shops, one paint building, and one assembly building. In addition to retooling them, Ford also plans to add a new 407,000-sq.-ft. onsite battery plant.
