Customized Waterjet Cutting Machines With Multi-Cutting-Head Capability

Flex Machine Tools  announced that it can configure its FlexJet line of waterjet cutting machines for unique cutting requirements, as customers can choose the pump, cutting head and machine size that best fit their applications. FlexJet waterjet systems reportedly offer high speed and rapid positioning, with head options ranging from conventional, five-axis and tilter to multi-head setups. And, the FlexJet FLX-1365 waterjet cutting machine can be configured with a four-head cutting head (pictured). 

Such multiple-cutting-head solutions offered for the FlexJet line provide increased efficiency by enabling multiple heads to cut parts at one time, reducing overall cutting time and cost per part. Multi-head standard package options have two and four cutting heads, and can be expanded. Also, the multi-head solutions can be paired with higher-horsepower pumps to prevent performance losses at individual cutting heads. For consistent abrasive delivery, each head has its own dedicated mini hopper, and each head can be turned on and off independently so that only needed heads are engaged in cutting. An auto-spacing feature enables quick and simple adjustment of cutting-head spacing, with 48-in.-maximum and  5.5-in.-minimum spacing between heads.
