Burghardt & Schmidt GmbH to Build a Stretch-Bend-Leveling Line for Eagle Metals
October 14, 2025Comments
Eagle Metals, Leesport, PA, has contracted with Burghardt + Schmidt (b + s) to develop a precision stretch-bend-leveling (SBL) line to process a variety of special bronze, copper, nickel and stainless-steel alloys. The line will be capable of correcting shape defects created at Eagle’s cold-mill operation, and includes a Level 1 platform for seamless integration with Eagle’s production system. It also will be able to provide real-time online feedback through a data-acquisition and analysis system from iba AG, and the line will incorporate the latest shape meter roll, supplied by the b + s automation division.
The line also features a patented hands-free threading system that Eagle Metals expects will increase usage per coil processed, eliminating the need for stitching or welding during on-line processing. Furthermore, the new line will be able to process material thinner than 0.001in., reportedly the first line of its kind in North America.
