Minnesota-Based Workforce-Development Program Earns DoL Recognition

Minneapolis, MN-based Hired, which provides direct job- and skill-development assistance to low-income adults, dislocated workers, people making the welfare-to-work transition and others, received the Excellence Award for Leveraging the Power of Partnerships from the U.S. Department of Labor.

The DoL recognized Hired for its M-Powered training program, developed in collaboration with Hennepin Technical College and the Precision Metalforming Association. M-Powered trains Minnesota jobseekers for careers in manufacturing. It encompasses 96 hr. of training in disciplines such as shop math, blueprint reading, precision measurement and machine operation, and meets National Institute for Metalworking Skills credential requirements. More than 150 people have completed the program and nearly 94 percent of graduates have been placed in jobs.
