3D Printing Helping Paralympics Athletes Compete and Succeed

With the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Games having wrapped this past weekend, it’s interesting to note how 3D printing has made its presence felt for numerous paralympians. From gloves to bicycle seats to prosthetics, 3D printing of metal and nonmetal parts has enabled these athletes to compete and succeed, as summarized in an article from The Conversation.
Case in point, from the article: “3D-printed titanium is also being used for custom prosthetic arms, such as those that allow New Zealand paralympian Anna Grimaldi to securely grip 50-kg weights, in a way a standard prosthetic couldn’t achieve.”
