Recent AHSS Improvements Alter Forming Behavior

Improvements to AHSS, including the development of 3rd Gen AHSS and press-hardenable steels for hot stamping, have emerged to provide additional relief from those difficulties. MetalForming spoke with representatives from three major steelmakers—Nucor, Cleveland-Cliffs and ArcelorMittal—to learn how steelmaking has evolved.

PMA technical director and MetalForming columnist Peter Ulintz writes: “Gaining new business producing existing parts demands a well-executed plan with a clear understanding of the associated risks.
