Why Texas for Tesla’s New Gigafactory?
The Motley Fool recently posted an article titled, “Making the Case for a Texan Tesla Motors Inc.,” providing an overview of Tesla’s planned ”Gigafactory,” expected to employ some 6500 workers who (once the plant comes online) will “produce more lithium-ion batteries than were produced worldwide in 2013.”

The article makes a strong case for Texas to land the plant, including its large base of automotive workers--the motor-vehicle parts sector has seen more than 29 percent growth since 2009. And, there are numerous opportunities for Tesla to form R&D partnerships with other manufacturers and research institutes, not to mention potential incentive programs from the huge (some would say “Texas-sized”) $200 million Texas Emerging Technology Fund.
