Rising Healthcare Costs a Conundrum Worth Solving
A survey by the National Association of Manufacturers finds that rising healthcare costs ranks high on the list of business challenges that manufacturers face, second only to unfavorable business conditions. At the same time, how companies handle the cost of providing healthcare to their employees can determine the level of their success in hiring and retaining workers.

As described in a recent article in Crain’s Cleveland Business, manufacturers are devising creative solutions to keeping healthcare costs in check while treating employees fairly. The article includes a discussion of self-insurance--one expert notes that “companies of all sizes are looking into this option.”
