Georgia Service Center Installs Multi-Blanking Line

The Phoenix Metals facility in Norcross, GA, has installed a 72-in. precision multi-blanking line from Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, IL. The line can process mild steel to 0.135 in. thick and stainless steel to 0.105 in. as presently configured—the firm may add an additional leveler to the line to take stainless-steel capacity to 0.250 in. Included is a precision grip-feed system and CNC programmable slitter, capable of holding blank width and length tolerances of plus or minus 0.005 in. Learn more at

Jacquet Mid Atlantic, Pottstown, PA, a processing and distribution center specializing in stainless steels and nickel alloys, installed its third waterjet-cutting machine. The new machine, from Jet Edge, Inc., St. Michael, MN, boasts a 21-by-13-ft. work envelope and twin abrasive-waterjet cutting heads. Other features: a mirroring package, independent programmable Z carriages, programmable height sensing, remote pendant and closed-loop water-filtration system. The firm stocks 19 different grades of alloys, and uses the cutting machines to cut near-net-shape parts for its customers with no heat-affected zone and little or no need for secondary finishing operations.
