Powder-Coating Workshop Slated for Indianapolis

The Powder Coating Institute (PCI), Alexandria, VA, will host a two-day hands-on powder-coating workshop on November 9-10 in Indianapolis, IN. In the classroom, participants learn about coating materials, maintenance and troubleshooting of application equipment, booth recovery systems, design and use of pretreatment systems and more. Industrial-Laser Shipments Skyrocketing

Second-quarter 2004 shipments of industrial-laser equipment and systems for North America and U.S. exports climbed 75 percent compared to second-quarter 2003 figures, according to the Laser Systems Product Group of AMT—The Association For Manufacturing Technology. Shipments within North America for the 41 reporting companies totaled $119.8 million for the quarter, with exports accounting for another $53.8 million. Cutting applications accounted for 55 percent of the quarter’s shipments. Through the first six months of the year, laser orders are up 60 percent over last year.
