Metalforming Technologies, Inc., Chicago, IL, has been restructured into three business units, designed to better meet the needs of the company’s growing customer base, according to company officials.
The new units include Engineered Systems, Safety Systems, and Structural & Tubular Systems. The company as a whole supplies stampings and assemblies, and offers subsystem integration to the automotive industry. With the shift, Dennis Kazmierski assumes the position of vice president of Engineered Systems, Bruce Howard becomes vice president of Safety Systems and Jeff Brune becomes vice president of Structural & Tubular Systems. To provide financial, human-resource, information-technology and purchasing support to each unit, the company has formed a shared-services group.

Trumpf Earns CT Award for Laser Technology

Trumpf Inc., Farmington, CT, will receive a Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Gold-Level Innovation Prize, recognizing development and success of the company’s Sprint Axis laser technology.
The Sprint Axis, a small, lightweight kinematic module with axis travel limited to 4 in., is integrated into standard laser machines. The module reportedly allows quicker travel in the x and y axes, thus speeding part-fabrication times.
The award will be presented at a ceremony on October 16, 2003.
