Steel Tube Mill Rolls into Louisiana

Benteler Steel/Tube has broken ground on its first U.S. manufacturing facility—a hot-rolling seamless steel tube mill in Caddo Parish, LA. The facility expects to employ 675 workers at full production capacity. Construction should end late in 2014, with production scheduled to start in mid-2015. To train workers for the plant, a training facility is being built on the nearby campus of Bossier Parish Community College. More at

Waterjet-Cutting Machine Docks at Conveyor Manufacturer

Anderson-Crane Co., Litchfield, MN, a manufacturer of screw conveyors and feeders, hoppers, bins and gates, has installed a Jet Edge waterjet-cutting machine in its fabrication department—to support its own manufacturing needs as well as to provide job-shop cutting services to local businesses. Prior to the move to waterjet cutting, the firm had been cutting parts on a CNC plasma-cutting machine and outsourcing work to waterjet shops.
