Learn What Lean Means to Toyota, re:
Problem Solving Methodology

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

A two-day educational program from the Tool and Die Futures Initiative, sponsored by Oakland University’s Center for Integrated Business Research and Education, will feature guest speaker Jeff Lucas, assistant manager for the Toyota Purchasing Total Cost Assessment Group. The program’s theme: Communication, Lean Manufacturing and a Problem-Solving Challenge. It sets out to explain that lean manufacturing is not a set of tools nor some new technology or software program. Rather, it’s a company culture and a way of thinking, and requires concise communication and a consistent problem-solving methodology—a way of life, if you will, and a necessity for competing in a global market with a competitive cost index. The program runs from Thursday, September 30 (1-5 p.m.) to Friday, October 1 (8 a.m.-4 p.m.),at Elliot Hall Auditorium at Oakland University, Auburn Hills, MI, and addresses these and other topics: • Communication and Change Point Management • Problem Solving Methodology • 14 Principles of a Culture Returning to its Roots • Driving Growth through Innovation—Developing an Innovation Ecosystem.
