Honda Building Second Assembly Line in AL

Honda has begun installing four massive presses for a new $425-million assembly line at its Lincoln, AL, plant. The new line will join another line currently in operation. The presses, built by Ishikawajima-Harina Heavy Industries in Japan, will produce doors, floor panels, hoods, tailgates and other parts for Honda vehicles.
Auto-Industry Supplier Kendale Earns ISO/TS

Kendale Industries, Inc., Valley View, OH, has been awarded an ISO/TS 16949 Quality Management System certificate, for manufacture of washers, stampings, screw-machine products and turned parts. The certification, developed by the International Automotive Task Force and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, is automotive-sector specific based on ISO 9001:2000, QS-9000 and other international automotive requirements.
Laserdyne Ships Laser System to China

The Laserdyne Systems division of Prima North America, Champlin, MN, has shipped a 790 BeamDirector multi-axis laser system to Guizhou Xinyi Machinery Factory Co., Guizhou, China. That is the 26th multi-axis laser system shipped to Asia-Pacific aerospace manufacturers since the company began selling in Asia in 1988, according to company officials. The new system will be used for trepan and percussion drilling of small holes in turbine-engine vanes and blades manufactured by Guizhou Xinyi.
