Rolled Alloys Expands Cincinnati Plant

A 24,000-sq.-ft. expansion made to the previous 36,000-sq.-ft. Cincinnati, OH, facility of Rolled Alloys, Temperance, MI, allows the plant to store additional inventory as well as add new processing capabilities. Rolled Alloys supplies heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant, high-temperature and titanium-alloy products. The new addition includes a new Trumpf Trumatic laser-processing center that can cut stainless steel to 5/8 in. thick and nickel-alloy plate to 3/8 in., as well as a Timesaver burr-removal machine and a Virtek CMM.

Robot Industry Surging Full Speed Ahead

The robotic-automation business is good—so good that Yaskawa Electric Corp., Kitakyushu, Japan (parent company to Motoman Inc., West Carrollton, OH) is building a new robot factory to expand production capabilities. The new 100,000-sq.-ft. facility in Kitakyusha will manufacture, beginning in November 2005, medium- to large-sized robots for resistance welding, material handling and painting. It expands Yaskawa’s production capacity to 2000 robots/month.

under New Ownership

Ken Sanker, president and CEO of Blue Chip Engineered Products, Cincinnati, OH, has sold the company to Mike and Wendy Rose, after 21 years of ownership. The firm provides specialty metal, plastic and assembled component parts and distribution services to the OEM and automotive markets.
