Formtek Sells Equipment for Strip Galvanizing Line

Gregory Industries, Canton, OH, has installed a turret recoiler and turret uncoiler from B&K, a Formtek Group (Itasca, IL) company. Gregory manufactures highway guard rails. The new B&K equipment has increased coil capacity, reduced downtime and increased throughput of its continuous-strip galvanizing line.
Metalforming Controls Corp. Earns DOE Grant

The U.S. Dept. of Energy awarded MetalForming Controls Corp., Cary, IL, a $250,000 grant to commercialize its Force Modulator stamping-press control that it says could help reduce U.S. gasoline consumption by more than a billion gallons/yr. The control aids in the stamping of lightweight high-strength steels, used to improve vehicle safety and fuel efficiency. Learn more at

GM Plans Indian Shopping Spree

General Motors has announced plans to purchase more material in Asia and trim capacity in North America. Its plan includes increasing purchases from suppliers in India from $150 million currently to more than $1 billion by the end of 2008. GM annually purchases $85 billion worth of automotive components, steel and other materials.
