Second-Quarter Machine-Tool Sales Jump

The latest U.S. Machine Tool Consumption statistical report, from AMT and AMTDA, shows a jump of 16 percent in machine-tool consumption from second quarter over first quarter results. However, first-half 2002 sales are off 24.2 percent compared to the same period in 2001. Any signs of a manufacturing recovery are “fluctuating” and “excess capacity exists throughout all market segments,” say trade-association officials. Full report data can be found on the web at

Fuchs Europe Named Top 10 by DaimlerChrysler

Lubricant specialists Fuchs Europe Schmierstoffe GmBH, Mannheim, Germany, has been ranked among the Top Ten suppliers to DaimlerChrysler facilities in Germany. Fuchs is the only lubricant producer to make the list. The award was presented on July 26, 2002.
In North America, Fuchs Lubricants Co., Harvey, IL, operates eight plants and 24 warehouses.
