Wind-Energy Supply-Chain Database Online

The Great Lakes Wind Network (GLWN) has launched its Internet-based Wind Energy Supply Chain Database and Mapping System, an interactive geographical information system map and searchable supply-chain database. It contains information on more than 1000 North American manufacturers and supporting organizations, so that OEMs, manufacturers, and suppliers, as well as economic-development officials, consultants and others can network. Market Study Covers the Domestic Press Industry

Albrecht Associates, Richmond, IN, has published the 13th edition of its annual Market Study of the Press Industry, compiling sales data for the domestic market for mechanical and hydraulic presses. The study looks at trends over a 20-yr. period, and shows that while press shipments for 2008 stayed level with those for 2007 and imports climbed by 29 percent, 2009 shipments likely will be down. Charlotte to Host Coil-Processing Seminar

Red Bud Industries’ RBI Tech Support group will host a coil-processing seminar at the Renaissance Charlotte Suites Hotel in Charlotte, NC, October 20, 2009. Attendees will learn about blanking, multiblanking, leveling, slitting and other processes, and how to apply new technology to improve tolerances, optimize material flatness and maximize efficiency. Speakers include Red Bud Industries’ vice president of marketing and sales Dean Linders, consultant Eric Theis, slitting-technology expert Al Zelt, and Kevin Voges, president of The Material Works and inventor of the SCS (Smooth, Clean Surface) and EPS (Eco-Pickled Surface) processes.
