Kaller Moving to Larger Space

Kaller Gas Springs, Fraser, MI, moves to a new location on Sept. 1, just a few doors down from where it resides now, but with triple the space, to allow it to meet growing demand for its gas springs and cams, and allow it to offer baseplates and hose systems. Visteon Continues to Pare Down its Supplier List

In 2001, Visteon Corp., Traverse City, MI, had 2500 suppliers. Today it has fewer than 1500, and soon it will have 900, according to a recent article in Crain’s Detroit Business. Its North American purchasing chief, quoted in the article, says that the firm will use a cost-target approach with key suppliers, rather than auctioning for the lowest price. It will set specific price targets on components and work with suppliers to meet those prices.

India Gets its First Laser Center

GSI Lumonics Inc., Farmington Hills, MI, and its distributor, Optilase, have opened India’s first laser-processing development center in the province of Chennai. The facilities house GSI Lumonics’ JK series of Nd:YAG lasers with five-axis motion systems.
