New American Chopper Series Names
Lincoln Electric Exclusive Welding Partner

On August 12, 2010, the American Chopper brand name of The Learning Channel expanded with the launch of a new series called American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior. The show follows Paul Teutel Sr. as he continues to operate his Orange County Choppers motorcycle business in Newburgh, NY, and his son Paul Jr. as he runs his startup design company and custom chopper shop, Paul Jr. Designs (www.pauljrdesigns.com). The Lincoln Electric Co. has signed on as the show sponsor and exclusive welding partner of the new custom chopper shop. Metal Service Center Report:
Shipments Up, but Growth Rate Slows

According to the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI), the rate of growth of steel and aluminum shipments from U.S. and Canadian service centers slowed in July, while inventory levels rose. Compared to year-earlier levels, steel shipments from U.S. service centers rose 14.3 percent in July, half the year-over-year increase experienced in May and June. Through July, 2010 shipments were up 18.4 percent over 2009 and inventory levels were 30 percent higher than a year ago. More at www.msci.org.

Tiyoda-Serec Takes New Name: Serec Corp.

The Tiyoda-Serec Corp., North Kingstown, RI, has changed its name to Serec Corp. The firm designs and manufactures airless vacuum-cleaning systems that clean or extract lubricants from stamped and machined parts. The systems incorporate built-in vacuum distillation for a solvent recovery rate to 97 percent; www.serec-corp.com.
