Illinois Service Center Retrofits Cut-to-Length Line

JDM Steel Service (formerly Northern Industries), Chicago Heights, IL, has upgraded its cut-to-length line with a Red Bud (Red Bud, IL) servo-hydraulic grip-feed system, heavy-gauge edge trimmer and variable-rake shear. The upgrade resulted from an increased demand for closer length and squareness tolerances in the firm’s hot-rolled market. The line can run material as thick as 0.312 in. in a deep loop, and thicker material in a start-stop mode.
