Foundation Announces Record Level
of Workforce-Development Grants

The Precision Metalforming Association Educational Foundation (PMAEF) will make available training and education grants totaling $208,500 during the 2007 fiscal year, according to Gretchen Zierick, PMAEF chair. The budget represents an increase of nearly $40,000 over the 2006 budget, and is the highest ever from the foundation. PMAEF accepts requests for funding from organizations whose programs and services promote, enhance and support the development of a metalforming workforce in the United States. Textron Out of the Fastening Business

Textron Inc., Providence, RI, has sold its Fastening Systems unit to a California-based private equity firm, Platinum Equity. The sale follows several similar moves made recently by Textron in its effort to divest itself of non-core manufacturing businesses. Textron owns leading aircraft manufacturers Bell Helicopter and Cessna Aircraft, among other well-known brands. Learn more at
