Beckett Air Automates
Blower-Housing Manufacturing Line

Beckett Air Inc., Elyria, OH, has automated its blower-housing manufacturing line to better produce housings for blower wheels, used in the HVAC industry. The automated line, which processes aluminized-steel coils, features a laser cutter and robotic-welding station. The new line enables the company to provide blower-housing customers with high quality and short lead times for samples and production housings, according to Jeff Eschweiler, Beckett Air blower-housing product manager. Motoman Teams to Conduct
Robotics-Degree Courses

Motoman Inc., West Carrollton, OH, has teamed with RETS Tech Center, Centerville, OH, to present robotic-training courses as part of the center’s Electronic Engineering Technology associate’s degree program. Beginning this September, 15 weeks of the 75-week program will be taught at the Motoman Technical Education Center in West Carrollton. Three-week sessions at Motoman typically will be separated by 12 weeks of courses at RETS. Students completing the 75-week full program receive an associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology with a major in Robotics. Motoman courses include Introduction to Robotic Automation, XRC Basic Programming, MotoCal Robot Calibration, XRC Maintenance and Introduction to JRC Basic Programming. Motoman Named Supplier of the Year

GKN Automotive, Inc., a supplier of automotive drive-line components, named Motoman Inc., Dayton, OH, its 2001 Capital Equipment Supplier of the Year. GKN has some 200 Motoman industrial robots installed among its three plants in North and South Carolina. Most of the robots are used to tend machines and handle materials. The award is judged on criteria from 10 categories, including service, support, pricing, quality, engineering initiatives and operational performance.
