Manufacturing Should Show an August Uptick

Of the 500 buyers of manufacturing services that participated in the July MfgOutlook Survey, sponsored by MfgQuote, Atlanta, GA, 58 percent expect to spend more in August on manufacturing services than they spent in July. Among other details from the survey, 50 percent of the respondents list quality as the leading purchasing influence, followed by price (45 percent), while location scored as least important. Custom Hydraulic Tryout Press
Goes to Fastener Manufacturer

Beckwood Press Co., St. Louis, MO, has delivered a 100-ton hydraulic press, equipped with its Dynamic Force Control feature, to a fastener manufacturer for use in tryout of new and repaired dies before they hit the production floor. The press, built specifically for the customer’s range of tools, offers a 24-in. stroke, a compact 24- by 24-in. bolster footprint and a 0-20-ton bed cushion with 6-in. stroke. SET Adds Michigan Steel Processing to its Stable

Warren, MI-based SET Enterprises Inc. has acquired Michigan Steel Processing Inc., New Boston, MI, from Sumitomo Corp. of America. SET forms and welds steel for the automotive industry; Michigan Steel Processing supplies Class 1 steel blanks and coils. The new division will be renamed SET Enterprises-New Boston.
