With its acquisition of the Intrinsic Safety Instrumentation (ISB) business unit (Buehl, Germany) from Cooper Crouse-Hinds, Pepperl+Fuchs, Twinsburg, OH, has expanded its product offerings to include ISB’s line of safety-instrumentation products--remote I/O, DIN rail devices and Zener diode barriers. Pepperl+Fuchs (www.am.pepperl-fuchs.com) manufactures process-automation products.

Illinois Service Center Retrofits Cut-to-Length Line

JDM Steel Service (formerly Northern Industries), Chicago Heights, IL, has upgraded its cut-to-length line with a Red Bud (Red Bud, IL) servo-hydraulic grip-feed system, heavy-gauge edge trimmer and variable-rake shear. The upgrade resulted from an increased demand for closer length and squareness tolerances in the firm’s hot-rolled market. The line can run material as thick as 0.312 in. in a deep loop, and thicker material in a start-stop mode.

The American Iron and Steel Institute Automotive Applications Committee has issued a call for abstracts to anyone interested in presenting at Great Designs in Steel 2007, March 7, 2007, in Livonia, MI. The all-day program, a forum for the latest trends and applications in automotive-steel technologies, will feature more than 35 technical presentations on advanced high-strength steels, automotive safety and manufacturing technology.
