ASTM Adds Internet Access
to Standards-Development Process

ASTM International, West Conshohocken, PA, has launched a new Internet-based system designed to initiate, develop and track draft standards and revisions before and during their balloting stage. The new Work Registration System is accessible from the ASTM website, It allows any interested individual who wants to know whether ASTM is developing or revising a specific standard to access the information. Users can perform keyword searches for new standards and revisions, and sign up for free e-mail notification of new work items in their areas of interest. The new system provides for improved access and involvement for ASTM members at every stage of the standards-development process, according to James A. Thomas, ASTM International president. “Transparency in the standards-development process has als been one of the guiding principles at ASTM,” he says. “The added openness, available to everybody, contributes to a better understanding of the work being performed by ASTM members.”

AGA Gas Named ArvinMeritor Supplier of the Year
