Ryerson Tull Adds Temper Mill at Ark. Plant

Ryerson Tull Inc. has purchased a temper mill, which will occupy a 132,000-sq.-ft. facility adjacent to the Nucor Steel flat-products mill in Hickman, AR. That facility will include coil-processing capabilities such as cutting-to-length and slitting. In addition, toll-processing services will be offered. The operation is expected to go online early in 2004.

O.R. Nottelmann, Former
Ryerson Tull Chairman, Passes Away

O.R. Nottelmann, whose 39-year Chicago steel-industry career was capped in retirement by nine years as chairman of the Executive Service Corps (ESC) of Chicago, passed away June 7. He was 78.
Nottelmann devoted his entire professional career to Chicago-based Inland Steel Industries, Inc, and its principal subsidiary, Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc. Prior to his retirement, he served as senior vice president of the parent company, and president of Inland Steel Co., (1986-87), following 31 years with Ryerson in a succession of responsibilities culminating as chairman, a position he held from 1980 to 1986.
Upon his retirement, he became a volunteer associate of ESC, dedicated to assisting nonprofit organizations, schools and governments improve their services to their constituents through management consulting.
ArvinMeritor Makes Hostile Bid for Dana Corp.

The automotive supply chain could be in for a major shakeup if the hostile takeover bid of Dana by ArvinMeritor, announced yesterday, July 8, comes to fruition. According to Crainsdetroit.com, the proposed transaction has a total value of $2.2 billion, calculated using the Dana stock price as of June 3, when ArvinMeritor submitted its first written proposal to Dana.
