Kaiser to Supply Al Sheet to Airbus through 2011

Kaiser Aluminum, Foothill Ranch, CA will supply Airbus with heattreated aluminum sheet and plate through 2011, based on an agreement recently signed by the two companies. “Kaiser has been a supplier primarily of lightweight sheet to Airbus for many years,” says Jack A. Hockema, president and CEO of Kaiser Aluminum. “However, the new agreement represents an important piece of committed business for Kaiser and is an outgrowth of the Airbus qualification of additional Kaiser sheet and plate products in 2004. “Airbus has clearly demonstrated an increased demand for aluminum sheet and plate,” he continues, “as evidenced in part by the development of the new A380 (550-seat passenger jet).” Kaiser Aluminum produces fabricated aluminum products for aerospace and other industries requiring high-strength, lightweight materials. Equipment Available for Robot Research

Universities and technical institutions are eligible to apply for the new Robotics Research Equipment Award sponsored by the Robotic Industries Association (RIA), Ann Arbor, MI. Research groups selected by a panel of RIA members will receive new and/or used robots and accessory equipment for 24 months in order to conduct research on topics of interest to RIA membership. The first equipment awards will be announced at the International Robots and Vision Show this September in Rosemont, IL.
