Stainless-Steel Production at its All-Time High

The International Stainless Steel Forum in Brussels announced that world stainless crude steel production in the first quarter of 2006 stood at 6.6 million metric tons, the most stainless steel ever produced in a single quarter. Compared to the first quarter of 2005, production rose by only 0.3 percent, but compared to the fourth quarter of 2005 production has risen 12.2 percent. Compared to fourth-quarter 2005, the strongest growth in 2006, 17.7 percent, has come from The Americas. Western European and African regions have increased stainless-steel production by 12.6 percent, while Asia has seen an increase of 11.1 percent
Train-the-Trainer Safety Seminars Scheduled

American Safety Training, Inc., Davenport, IA, has released its class schedule for August and September for its Essentials of Safety Seminars. The seminars are aimed at personnel responsible for employee health and safety, and those who develop workplace practices that must comply with OSHA regulations. Participants can attend for one, two or four days. The August schedule includes seminars near Boston, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Hartford, Las Vegas, Miami, New York, Orlando and Philadelphia.
