Latin-American Manufacturing to Rebound in 2010

Friday, July 31, 2009

According to the just-released report from The Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI called Latin America Manufacturing Outlook, Latin American manufacturing production is forecast to rebound to 3.6 percent growth in 2010. The MAPI report focuses on Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico–which together account for more than 80 percent of the manufacturing output in the region. The predicted rebound will impact every manufacturing sector except for the wood-products industry. Specifically, the automotive sector will grow by 7 percent in 2010. And, manufacturing in the machinery and equipment sector will also rebound to 7 percent growth in 2010, according to the report. Order the full report here.

Disposable Medical-Supply Market
to Continue Rapid Expansion

Thursday, July 30, 2009

Survey results from The Freedonia Group, Cleveland, OH, on the medical-supply industry predict that U.S. demand for disposable medical supplies will increase 4.6 percent annually from the years 2008 to 2013, just slightly below the 5 percent annual growth experienced in that market from 2003-2008. Catheterization, drug delivery and related medical instruments will remain the largest and fastest-growing disposable medical products, with demand increasing annually at 5.4 percent through 2013. This trend is driven by the fact that Medicare no longer will reimburse for infections linked to the use of catheters, and a new federally funded effort to reduce the overall number of infections related to healthcare devices, thus promoting the use of disposable products. By 2013, U.S. demand for disposable medical supplies is predicted to reach $59 billion, up from $47 billion in 2008 and $37 billion in 2003. Learn more at www.freedoniagroup.com
