Canadian Metalformer to Open U.S. Plant

Commercial Spring and Tool Co. Ltd., Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, will expand its operations into the United States by opening a manufacturing plant in LaFayette, AL. The firm manufactures springs, wire forms, and clips and also offers heat treating, plating and other services. It plans to hire 75 employees at its new U.S. facility within 3 years. Relocating from Sweden to Indiana

Sweden-based Dometic Corp., a manufacturer of recreational-vehicle and marine accessory products such as refrigerators, awnings, and air conditioners, announced plans to relocate a manufacturing facility from Sweden to Elkhart, IN, where it already maintains a warehouse and customer-service office. The new plant will employ 240 workers. A 10-yr. property-tax phase-in approved by the Elkhart City Council helped convince Dometic to locate the plant there rather than in Mexico or China. German Automotive Supplier
Expanding North Carolina Operations

Continental Teves, Inc., the automotive-components division of German-based conglomerate Continental AG and which maintains its North American headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI, announced plans to expand its manufacturing operations in Fletcher, NC. The producer of brake systems, powertrain and chassis systems, and other components, will invest $30 million to grow the NC operation and add 338 new jobs over the next 5 years. The state is providing Continental Teves with as much as $2.16 million in financial incentives. The firm is online here.
