Chicago Slitter Installs Line at Egyptian Distributor
Monday, July 28, 2003
Chicago Slitter, Itasca, IL, has installed a slitting system at Egyptian steel distributor Magd Steel. The 72-in. 50,000-lb.-coil-capacity line enables Magd Steel to process and distribute 301, 302, 304 and 316 stainless steel in thicknesses to 0.187 in.
Line features include power tooling lock-up, in which a hydraulically powered mechanism locks slitter-head tooling in seconds while eliminating the need for wrenches, jet nuts and grease guns; a roll-only tension stand that eliminates surface damage and other problems associated with drag pads; and quick-tension roll interchange for oily and dry material surfaces.

Feed Lease Feeds Two More Lines
to Fayette Tool and Engineering
Friday, July 25, 2003
Fayette Tool and Engineering, Inc., Connersville, IN, recently took delivery of two Feed Lease Corp. (Rochester Hills, MI) coil-feeding lines, bringing the number of Feed Lease-supplied lines at Fayette to six.
The two new identical lines each consist of a servo roll feed with a pull-through five-roll straightener, which reduces the space normally required for powered straighteners. The servo feed features crodon-surfaced feed rolls, sealed-for-life double-row ball bearings and dual pneumatic cylinders for roll lift and pilot release. The feeder mounts on an adjustable-height cabinet with a four-roll curve section, remote jog pendant and adjustable edge guides. The 10,000-lb.-capacity powered coil reel is includes hydraulic expansion, ultrasonic loop control and optional full-radius mandrel caps for use with lighter-gauge materials.
