Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., Los Angeles, CA, has agreed to acquire Yarde Metals, Inc., a metals service center company headquartered in Southington, CT. Yarde, which processes and distributes stainless-steel and aluminum-alloy plate, rod and bar products, operates additional service centers in Pelham, NH; East Hanover, NJ; Hauppauge, NY; High Point, NC; Streetsboro, OH; and Limerick, PA. Set to Aid Metalforming Companies

The Ohio State University (OSU) and The Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) have jointly established the Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) for Precision Forming (CPF). The center, funded in part by the National Science Foundation and participating companies, aims to be the leading North American research and development organization supporting metalforming companies, by developing innovative, cost-effective and environmentally friendly processes, tooling and equipment. It will conduct projects in close collaboration with industry and transfer the results to its member companies. CPF will use extensively the knowledge base developed at the Engineering Research Center for Net Shape Manufacturing at OSU, which is now merged with CPF. Learn more at
