Delphi to Open R&D Center in China

Delphi Corp. has broken ground on a new $500 million technical center expected to open in China in June 2005. The firm plans to employ 500 engineers, scientists and technical professionals at the center, their mission to develop components and support application and systems engineering for local customers and transplant automakers in the country.

Dana Plant Orders Six-Press Line from AP&T

Dana Canada, Sealing Products Division, has ordered a turnkey automated press line from AP&T, Monroe, NC, for production of protective heat shields. The line will comprise six AP&T hydraulic presses with die-clamping systems for quick die changes; a side-bar feed system; an advanced control system; safety guarding; and idle stations between each press to reduce feed strokes. AP&T will also integrate a coil-feed system and six-axis robots.
