Illinois Pledges $1 Million to Spur Manufacturing

Illinois' top economic development official announced last Thursday (June 22) a $1-million initiative aimed at spurring growth in Chicago-area manufacturing. Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity director Jack Lavin described the state’s Innovate Now! Program, which will be designed to work with mid- to-large-sized manufacturers.
As part of the first phase, the department plans to provide $1 million to promote innovation in manufacturing through a series of meetings and forums beginning in August and including a Chicagoland Innovation Summit on Oct. 24.
