New Steel Organization Has a Name

Come January 1, 2004, when the pending consolidation of AISE (Association of Iron and Steel Engineers, Pittsburgh, PA) and ISS (Iron & Steel Society, Warrendale, PA) becomes official, the new organization will be called Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST). The name was selected following a survey of general memberships of both organizations. Final approval of the consolidation agreement is expected to come by the end of July 2003.

Site visitors view a slideshow of CWP equipment and find detailed descriptions of servo feeds, straighteners, reels, pallet decoilers, precision levelers, press-feeding and cut-to-length lines. Deere & Company, Moline, IL, has awarded The Lincoln Electric Co., Cleveland, OH, Partner status, its highest level of achievement for suppliers. Deere Partners are given the highest possible ratings in each of five areas—quality, delivery, technical support, cost management and wavelength (defined as supplier initiative, responsiveness, attention to detail and communications performance.) Deere awarded Partner status to less than one percent of its suppliers in 2003.
