Ferrous Metal Processing
Adds Cut-to-Length Blanking Line

Thursday, June 20, 2002

Ferrous Metal Processing has added a new Herr-Voss laser-quality cut-to-length blanking line at its Iuka, MS, processing plant. The new line can flatten steels exhibiting yield strengths to 100,000 psi in thicknesses to 0.5 in. and widths to 96 in. "The new line is the only one of its kind in the world," claimed Ed Gonzalez, Ferrous president. "Rather than the typical nine work rolls, ours has 11 5.5-in. work rolls and is powered by a 500-hp motor. The line is producing steel that, after leveling, has no memory, which is a major benefit for those who are burning parts. This is the first non-temper mill leveler capable of producing laser-quality leveled blanks in this gauge range."
