Balzers Adds Fourth Rapid Coating System

Balzers, Inc., Amherst, NY, provider of PVD tool coatings for wear protection, has upgraded a fourth coating facility, in Brunswick, OH, to include its Rapid Coating System (RCS). The RCS, used for all existing and planned Balinit coatings including Futura Nano and X.Treme, will allow the Brunswick facility to fulfill all orders in-house rather than have to send tools to other centers. Headed to Toll Processor

Herr-Voss, Callery, PA, a subsidiary of Genesis Worldwide II Inc., has contracted with Maryland Metals, Baltimore, MD, to supply a Strand Extensioner slitting and packaging line. The toll processor will use the line to slit high-grade stainless-steel coils 64-in. wide by 72-in. OD, of sheet to 0.250-in. thick, for the food, medical, transportation and computer industries. Slit material will be loaded to the packaging line for banding and wrapping.

Switzerland-based Bystronic AG has acquired Singapore-based AFM-Fabtek, manufacturer of press brakes and shears. Bystronic Inc., Hauppauge, NY, will market, sell and support the sheetmetal-fabrication products throughout North America.
