The North American robotics market posted its second-highest quarter ever in terms of robots ordered, according to the Robotic Industries Association (RIA), Ann Arbor, MI. Through March 31, North American companies had ordered 5938 robots on the year, valued at $338 million, just shy of the record set in 4Q 2012—6235 robots valued at $385 million. In terms of applications for robots, sizeable increases were seen in coating/dispensing (+24 percent) and assembly (+18 percent). More at www.robotics.org/.
