SBA Honors Aranda Tooling for Export Success

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has named Pedro Aranda, president of Aranda Tooling, Huntington Beach, CA, as 2003 Regional Exporter of the Year. Aranda Tooling, with 130 employees at its 70,000-sq.-ft. plant, is a value-added manufacturer of metal-stamped parts and assemblies. It makes parts for a number of industries with automotive being its largest market. The company exports 55 percent of its parts (as measured in sales volume) to Mexico, with other parts exported to Japan, England, China, Brazil and Korea.
“International trade is very important to our nation’s economy and Aranda Tooling is an excellent example of the positive impact of exporting on the success of a business,” says Sandy Sutton, SBA district director.
Aranda Tooling took top honors for the region that includes California, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada and Guam.
Edgen Forms Alloy Products Group for Pipe

Edgen Corp., Baton Rouge, LA, has formed the Alloy Products Group, integrating two of the company’s internal divisions, ProMetals and Radnor Alloys. The group, headed by Ken Rowley, will supply alloy pipe and piping components. Both ProMetals and Radnor are based in Houston, TX.

Balzers Ups Tool-Coating Capacity

Balzers, Inc., Amherst, NY, has installed a sixth coating vessel at its coating center in Agawam, MA. With the new vessel, the Agawam center will be able to run more batches and bring a 25 percent improvement in capacity, thus cutting turnaround time from 2.5 to less than two days for the company’s standard Balinit PVD coatings.
