Emhart Fastening Licenses
Self-Piercing Rivet Rights

Emhart Fastening Teknologies, New Haven, CT, has reached agreement whereby the company will receive worldwide manufacturing and marketing rights to a high-force preclamping feature used on the self-piercing riveting (SPR) system from Henrob Corp., Farmington Hills, MI. The preclamping system prevents lateral movement of the base material during the riveting process. Emhart will incorporate it into its line of electrically driven, bulk-fed SPR systems for high-volume assembly processes.

Precision Industries Completes Manufacture
of Last Two Elkhart Presses

Falcon Products, Inc., Newport, TN, has contracted Precision Industries Corp., Elkhart, IN, to complete manufacture of two presses that were under construction when Elkhart Press Co. closed. Elkhart Press was manufacturing the two wide-bed 60-ton OBIs when it ceased operations in December 2001. Falcon will use the presses to produce tube parts for its furniture-manufacturing business. Precision Industries, along with its work for Falcon, offers limited parts and service for customers of Elkhart Press and its predecessor, L&J Press Co. In addition, the company builds presses in capacities from 22 to 400 tons and remanufactures most domestically produced presses.

Brown & Sharpe, Inc., North Kingstown, RI, has updated its website, www.brownandsharpe.com, giving users a choice between standard format and Flash, which provides sound and animation. Also, users now can navigate the site in one of six languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, French, German and Italian. Visitors can view product demonstrations and purchase a wide variety of metrology products at the new site, which also offers technical support.
