Metaldyne to Add Plexus Tool-Tracking System

Plexus Systems, Clarkston, MI, will design, construct and host an integrated tool-tracking system for the Metaldyne Sintered Components facility in St. Marys, PA. The tooling system will run on the Plexus Online platform, and manage tool inventory, manufacturing and setup. Metaldyne Corp., Plymouth, MI, supplies a variety of metal-based components to the automotive industry, including chassis and powertrain components and assemblies. HiTech Aero Maintains
Defense Contractor Accreditation

The Performance Review Institute (PRI) has completed its reaccredidation audit of HiTech Aero in accordance with the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program. HiTech Aero, Eastlake, OH, a HI TecMetal Group member company, maintained its accreditation for the heattreating of nickel and cobalt alloys, stainless steels, titanium alloys (stress relief) and steels. Its also been reaccredited for vacuum heattreating and brazing, furnace brazing and cryogenic treatments. Among its services, the firm applies titanium-carbide and titanium-nitride coatings to metalforming tools.

Hydraulic Press Installed to Form Metal Bellows

Beckwood Press Company, St. Louis, MO, recently shipped a 1200-ton hydraulic press to Senior Aerospace, a supplier to the aerospace, medical and semiconductor industries. The four-post press, used to form precision metal bellows, was integrated with a push-pull servo-feed system, straightener and payout reel. An Allen Bradley PLC control system runs the integrated system, and has 500-part program storage and uses Dynamic Pressure Control. Other system features: quick die change based on Hilma Carr Lane die lift with hydraulic die-clamping system and a Trabon Lubriquip ram-slide automatic lubrication setup.
