1Q Laser Shipments Practically Flat from Last Year

Shipments of industrial-laser equipment and systems for North America and U.S. exports totaled $87.7 million for the first quarter of 2003, down just two percent from year-earlier levels, according to the Laser Systems Product Group of AMT—The Association for Manufacturing Technology. Exports accounted for $18.6 million of that total. Sales of Nd:YAG lasers accounted for the two-percent drop, with sales of CO
2 laser systems holding steady.
Minster Moves European Customer-Support Center

The Minster Machine Co., Minster, OH, has relocated its Customer Support Center for Europe from Stuttgart to Halblech, Germany. With more than 3000 presses installed in Europe, Minster credits the support center, in place since 1991, as key to its continuously expanding European presence. The Halblech location is a fully staffed parts and service facility, complimenting a sales and application-support office in Belgium and a contracted remanufacturing facility in England.
