Orchid Acquires Material-Handling Provider

Orchid Automation, Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, manufacturer of metal-stamping automation equipment, has acquired IM Engineered Products, Ltd.. IME produces large material-handling equipment for automotive assembly, end-of-line press-automation systems, rack handling automation, turntables, specialty conveyors and heavy-duty material-handling automation. Orchid, manufacturer of systems for quick die change, automated storage and retrieval, blank loading and destacking, and servo in-press part transfer, eyes the acquisition as a to provide turnkey press automation packages.

Milford Fabricating Celebrates 50th
With Vocation Donation

Milford Fabricating Co., Detroit, MI, has made a $2000 donation to Breithaupt Vocational Technical Center in Detroit. The donation is in conjunction with the company’s 50th anniversary. “We applaud Breithaupt’s efforts to train skilled and vocational workers,” said Jeffrey K. Tanis, Milford Fabricating president, in announcing the donation. The company has employed many workers who acquired skills at Breithaupt. The donation will be used for merit scholarships. Milford Fabricating, founded in 1952 in Milford, MI, specializes in automotive-component prototype an niche-production services incorporating sheetmetal and plastic. In 1969, the company became part of the Budd Co.
