Atlas Engineers to Address Performance Gaps

With its new Atlas Engineers operating division, Atlas Technologies, Inc., Fenton, MI, aims to provide engineering and consulting services focused on helping its metalforming customers identify gaps in performance that affect competitiveness, and then help to correct them. The firm, which sells pressroom automation products, will now offer integrated consultation on product development and materials selection; environmental concerns; all pressroom equipment and line operation including scrap handling and press controls; and safety and ergonomic requirements.

Robot Sales Tick Upward

The North American robotics industry showed signs of stabilizing in the first quarter of 2002, according to data from the Robotic Industries Association, Ann Arbor, MI. Through March, North American customers ordered 2350 robots, a 1-percent increase over first-quarter 2001 orders. Weakness in overseas sales by North American robotics companies, however, led to an overall 2-percent decline in new orders for the quarter.
