Robotic-system integrator Genesis Systems, Davenport, IA, has formed a joint-venture enterprise with ICESA Modicon, San Juan del Rio, Queretaro, Mexico. Worthington Steel Expanding Monterrey
Joint-Venture Plant

Worthington Industries, Inc., Columbus, OH, announced plans to add a pickling line to its joint-venture facility (with Serviacero) in Monterrey, Mexico. The 160,000-sq.-ft. expansion with have the capacity to process 500,000 tons per year for tolling and direct customers. In addition to the Monterrey facility, the joint venture (Serviacero Worthington, S.A. de C.V.) operates service centers in Leon and Queretaro. Serviacero Worthington offers services such as slitting, multi-blanking and cutting-to-length to customers in a variety of industries including automotive, appliance, electronics and heavy equipment.

Olympic Steel Expanding All Over

National metal-service center Olympic Steel, Inc., Cleveland, OH, has announced plans to take on nearly 300,000 sq. ft. of additional warehouse, processing and office space throughout North America. Included is the purchase of the U.S. Steel site in Gary, IN (177,000 sq. ft.) to house a new temper mill and cut-to-length line, to become operational by year-end 2011. The firm also will lease 43,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space in Kansas City, MO; 8000 sq. ft. in Quincy, WA; 57,000 sq. ft. in Minneapolis, MN; and 15,000 sq. ft. in Monterrey, Mexico.
