Summit to Discuss Application of Lean Thinking

The Lean Enterprise Institute will present Business Process Summit: Applying Lean Thinking Across the Enterprise from June 8 to 10, 2005, at the Hilton Hotel, Logan Airport, in Boston. The nonprofit institute, which has developed tools for implementing an entire lean business system, will present executives from companies that have been successful in going lean. Cognex Acquires Vision- Sensors Company

Cognex Corp., Natick, MA, supplier of machine-vision systems, has acquired DVT Corp., Duluth, GA, a supplier of vision sensors for inspection and quality control. The acquisition provides Cognex with a worldwide network of more than 150 industrial distributors, in addition to its own network of 40 distributors, mostly in North America. Disc-Brake Developer under New Ownership

Mechanical Industries, Inc., a 56-yr.-old Milwaukee-based contract custom manufacturer of complex metal parts and assemblies, has been acquired by C & J Acquisition LLC, also of Milwaukee. Mechanical Industries, credited with developing the disc brake later popularized by Kelsey-Hayes, offers tube-end forming and tube bending, tubular stamping, machining, rod and wire fabrication and other operations.
