MJC Engineering and Technology, Inc., Huntington Beach, CA, has manufactured and delivered what it says is the most powerful CNC machine in its configuration ever built for a U.S. fabricator. Weighing nearly 50 tons, the new Model SP 78200-3 spinform lathe, designed and built for Glenn Metalcraft Inc., Princeton, MN, boasts a 200-hp spindle, 100-hp hydraulic system and three-station automatic turret. Prior to commissioning the new lathe, the company was limited to spinforming materials no thicker than ½ in. The new machine can handle mild-steel blanks
up to 80-in. dia. and 1-3/8 in. thick.
