Talan Products Awarded for Growth in Inner City

With a 5-yr. growth rate of 156 percent, metalforming company Talan Products, Cleveland, OH, became one of only two U.S. metalforming companies to make the 2008 Inner City 100 list, a national ranking of the fastest-growing inner-city companies. The list, created by the not-for-profit organization Initiative for a Competitive Inner City and Inc. Magazine, includes only 10 manufacturing companies; the other metalformer to make it was Spex Precision Machine Technologies, Rochester, NY. Talan employs 60 and has annual sales of $25 million. To qualify for the list, a company must have more than half of its operations located in an economically distressed urban area; at least 10 full-time employees; a 5-yr. operating sales history that includes at least $200,000 in revenues in the first year of consideration; an increase in year-five sales over year-four sales; and fifth-year sales of at least $1 million. Tools Inc. Earns ISO Registration

OMCG Installs Wire-EDM Machine for Tool Cutting

OMCG NA, Bensenville, IL, a supplier of slideforming and CNC wire- and strip-forming machines, has installed an Agie wire-EDM machine for the manufacture of tooling. The unit can cut tool steels to 4 in. thick, and taper tools for compound bending. It also will easily cut the complicated profiles of plate cams to allow the fine-tuning of the multislide-forming process. OMCG machines, manufactured by OMCG Spa of Italy, can handle strip to 4-in. wide and wire to 5/8-in. dia.;
