Cost-Estimating Software Headed to Metaldyne

Micro Estimating Systems, New Berlin, WI, has signed a contract to supply computer-aided estimating software, Machine Shop Estimating (MSE), to the Driveline & Transmission Group of Metaldyne Corp. MSE will support real-time cost-estimating capabilities at all Metaldyne locations, according to Micro Estimating officials. Clayton Metals Acquires
Corus Aluminum Service Centers

Clayton Metals, Inc., Wood Dale, IL, has acquired Corus Aluminum Service Centers Inc., with the combined companies now positioned as a national distributor of nonferrous metal products, according to company officials. Corus, with facilities throughout the eastern United States and formerly headquartered in Secaucus, NJ, will operate under the Clayton Metals name. Clayton has locations throughout the Midwest and in California, and with the buy adds aluminum to its portfolio of stainless steel, brass and copper. For more, visit

Honeywell FM&T Orders Laser Welding System

Laserdyne Systems, Champlin, MN, has received a $2.5-million-plus order from Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies for four multi-axis laser-welding systems. The order, according to officials from Prima North America, parent company of Laserdyne, is the largest single order received in the company’s 22-year history. The systems incorporate Laserdyne’s System 94 laser process control with dual CPUs and Windows NT operating system.
